Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up & Stray Vacancy – All Dates Yet to Be Announced
The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Maharashtra will conduct the NEET PG 2025 counselling in a total of four rounds to ensure all postgraduate medical seats are filled systematically and transparently:
- Round 1
This is the first phase where registered candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria will participate in choice filling. Seats will be allotted based on NEET PG rank, reservation, and seat availability. - Round 2
Conducted for candidates who were not allotted any seat in Round 1 or those who opted for an upgrade. New registration may or may not be allowed depending on the official guidelines. The process includes revised merit lists, updated seat matrix, choice filling, and a fresh round of seat allotment. - Mop-Up Round
This round is conducted for vacant seats that remain after Round 2. Candidates who did not get admission in the previous rounds are eligible. Fresh registration is typically allowed, followed by new choice submissions and allotments. - Stray Vacancy Round
The final round of the counselling process, where leftover seats after the Mop-Up round are filled. No fresh registration is usually allowed. The remaining unfilled seats are allotted to eligible candidates strictly on the basis of the final merit list.

Maharashtra NEET PG 2025: Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for admission into postgraduate medical courses in Maharashtra for the 2025 session, candidates must fulfil the eligibility conditions outlined below:
- Nationality Criteria: Only Indian citizens can apply. A valid nationality certificate or documents like a passport, domicile certificate, or 12th-grade school leaving certificate must confirm Indian nationality.
- NRI Quota Limitation: NRI candidates are not permitted to apply unless seeking admission under the 15% NRI quota specifically available in private unaided medical institutions.
- Maharashtra Domicile & Outside Graduate Clause: Candidates from Maharashtra who completed MBBS from outside the state under All India Quota/AIIMS/Central Institutions are also eligible. However, they must present a domicile certificate of Maharashtra and an eligibility letter from the respective college dean.
- MBBS Qualification: A valid MBBS degree from a medical college recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI), and situated in Maharashtra, is mandatory.
- Internship Completion: Applicants must have completed their compulsory rotatory internship by or before August 11, 2025.
- Medical Fitness: It is mandatory for candidates to be declared medically fit to pursue PG medical courses.
